dA's New Submission Agreement
Journal Entry: Tue Aug 1, 2006, 9:48 PM
Good God.
After a long absence and lack of inspiration to post anything even blink worthy, I decided to upload a picture I took while on my way back to LA from Canada. It was a pretty decent shot since I happened to be sitting right beside the wing of the plane and had a decent map of the ground below with the bluest sky you've ever seen. Unfortunately, as I was submitting the picture, a really nasty exhaustively long sumbission policy greeted me before I posted. Now normally I don't read these things unless it has anything to do with my personal information. However, I am very adamant about other people using other people's artwork or any type of work for that matter for their own benefit without consent or willingness of the original owner/artist. In this case, I'm sure most of you already know that dA has grossly revised their policy and has been the cause of major conflict between the heads dA. Hence the split betweek yellow alien group and the matrix man.
Basically, the new policy says you can't do jack sh*t if dA decides to use and abuse your artwork. They and their affiliates can tear it apart and dismantle it and your own identity (on dA) as much as they want and you can't sue them or any of their affiliates that may choose to use your work. Please correct me if I've misinterpreted anything.
Therefore, after a split second of thought I decided to stop submitting anything more on dA, at least until they fix this crap submission policy of theirs. It does nothing to protect the rights of artists and basically does everything to protect them from any legal action they might encounter in the future. What a bunch of BS. Yellow Alien, save us!
I originally decided I would maybe watermark everything (not that my work is anything great or whatever), but that would just be another hassle. We really shouldn't have to do all that crap for the sake of art pirates. It almost feels like putting up a ton of alarm systems incase someone decides to rob your house. The reason why I joined dA was for my own enjoyment. It's like building a mini portfolio and getting feedback from your fellow artist peers. There is a sense of community and safe haven. I prided dA because of how the community respected one another as artists and kept their integrity by not stealing, copying or claiming the work others. I thought I would be safe here from people trying to make another buck or steaking their claim to glory through someone else's hard work. Now that this new policy has been made clear, my feelings about this place has been shot.
It was great while it lasted, but like all great things it also ends. In the world of the internet, it's only a matter of time when the innocent become corrupt. All it takes is a little greed.

Submission is fine, but Confirmation is better.
You are able to capture the expression, look and feel so wonderfully. A true diamond in the rough ^_^
